About Mitch

Michihito “Mitch” Sekine was an extremely hard working and compassionate young man. He was known as an exceptional medic and co-worker who proudly served the community for 5 years as an EMS provider, first as an EMT then as a paramedic. Tragically, Mitch passed away on August 3, 2007, as a result of a fatal traffic collision.

To honor Mitch’s memory, we, his family and friends, established The Mitch Sekine Memorial Scholarship Fund to help support the education of future paramedic students at the UCLA Paramedic Program, Mitch’s beloved alma mater.

The Fund awards a scholarship to a student in each UCLA paramedic class. Applicants are selected through a competitive process. Recipients are those that best exemplify Mitch’s professional characteristics, passion, and qualifications – and have a demonstrated financial need.

Mitch cared for his family, friends, and patients. EMS was his passion. By helping students attain their dream of becoming a paramedic, Mitch lives on in their hearts and minds and in those of the patients and families they serve.

Join us in celebrating Mitch’s life! Help us make a difference for others.
